In November 2015, Nominet, the official registry for .UK domain names, announced that it would be raising its wholesale domain costs by 50% starting with March 2016.
In addition to increased registry costs from Nominet, we’re also facing increased registry costs for all other international domains (i.e. .COM) due to the continued fall of the GBP.
Even though we held off raising our domain prices for as long as possible (6 months for .UK domain names and 3 months for all other international domains), as of today we are forced to increase the price to purchase or renew .UK domain names, including .co.uk, me.uk and org.uk, to £13.99 for a minimum of 2 years registration period. Additionally, a price increase of 20% applies across all other international domains, including .COM.
This is the first time in four years that we’ve increased the price on these core domain names, but we believe that our domain pricing still represents a great value in the UK marketplace.
If you have any further questions about these price increases, please do get in touch.
